I’ve finally come back to the land down under. I arrived back in Melbourne on the 4th of December after a good 18 months in Europe. I had a great time and loved every minute of it, but it is good to be back home and to see friends and family again. I’m planing on updating SketchTHAT.com, so keep your eyes open because it should look pretty different very soon.
I haven’t updated this site in a long time. That doesn’t mean that I’m no longer working as a web developer, because I am. I’ve been living in London for the last year and a half and I haven’t been freelancing over here. I’ve been busy travelling seeing all the sights of Europe and didn’t want to be stuck inside working behind a computer screen while I had the world at my finger tips.
This dream however is coming to an end… Very shortly. Early next year (2009) I’ll be back in Melbourne and as such will begin to freelance again if all goes according to plan. I’m going to give SketchTHAT a much needed facelift and kick off the year with a fresh start.
If anyone has any questions or wants to contact me for work next year or just to say hi, please do so. Until next time, Mike
You would have already read that I’ve finished university at last and have decided to travel around Europe. Well my travel adventures are over and I’m now living and working in London.
I’m planning on staying here until December 2008 but who knows what could happen, I might stay longer, I could be back very soon. Keep your eyes open because once I’ve settled in I’m going to start doing some more freelance work.
Most of you should know by now that I’m heading overseas for a while. I’m leaving on the 5th of July and I don’t expect to be back for several months. Which means I won’t be able to help anyone with any web projects.
I won’t be on the internet everyday, so if you send me an email and I don’t respond straight away, don’t worry it means that I haven’t had a chance to get on the net. If you haven’t heard from me for more then two weeks try sending it again.
For all of my hosting clients, don’t worry, I have someone monitoring this and if there are any problems they will sort it out straight away. If you have a problem with your account just email me and it will get sorted.
If you have any questions please just email me and I’ll answer them as soon as possible.
I have canceled the email move. I’m going to do it over the next weekend.
All email’s being sent to any address sketchthat.com might bounce back.
The reason behind this is I’m in the process of migrating my email account to a different server. The process can take up to 48 hours.
In the mean time you can send emails via my contact form, they will be delivered to a different address so I will defiantly receive them.
My final semester at Deakin is about to come to a close, the exam period is upon me and I’ve got only days left before I sit my last exam.
As many of you would already know once I’ve completed my degree I am going to put on a backpack and make an exiting trip to the other side of the world. Which unfortunately means I won’t have the time to work on any websites.
However, when I return I’m planing on growing my business and turning it into a full time venture. I’m going to expand from web design and offer a lot of other important web features. I’m not going to give too much away, you’ll just have to wait and see.
Wish me luck on my final exam and you’ll all hear from me before I leave the country.
Just a quick one today everyone. I thought I would let you know that http://blog.sketchthat.com has closed down. I’ve imported all the posts to this blog. I’m pretty sure it’s error free but I still have to do a little bit of testing to make sure I have imported them all correctly. If you spot any errors please let me know.
Thanks
Web hosting is the single most important thing for a website. Without a host there is no website, that simple. It is for this reason that SketchTHAT has made the decision to go dedicated.
Currently we have had very few problems with our host, however recently the service has been going down hill and the servers aren’t up to scratch.
We are going to build a new server from scratch and program it to suite our needs. When we have the server up and running a lot of tests will be made on it then we are going to start selling space. Currently our plans are to offer all the normal perks of hosting as well as reseller accounts and hopefully VPS options.
Stay tuned because this is going to be a long project and won’t be off the ground for at least another 6 months, but once it is you’ll hear about it.
You may have noticed there has been a slight upgrade to SketchTHAT. It’s a pretty small update but I thought it was about time for it to happen. The site is now built without tables and uses a lot more CSS. This is the current trend in web development. I’ve tested the layout in IE6, IE7 and Firefox 2. If anyone spots any errors please let me know as I’m still trying to fine tune this process.
In other news I’ve just launched a couple of new sites and am looking forward to show all of you what they look like once I get the go ahead from the owners.
Stay tuned more changes coming soon!
You may have noticed a few changes at SketchTHAT within the last few weeks…
No your not going crazy things are really changing in front of your eyes. There is a reason for this, we are in the process of cleaning up the server and removing old files that are no longer used. The whole site will be rebuilt within the coming weeks / months, because as you know we are in need of a major update.
So if you see anything change, or broken don’t panic, its just because we are updating.
Cheers
Michael Kimpton
